Quitting, Cupcakes, and Cuteness (in no particular order).

**Disclaimer**

This blog post was written ….probably about 2 months ago-ish.  I’m now just posting it.  So sue me.  I had a couple sentences to add, and some pictures to upload, so no I didn’t just make Halloween cupcakes, but yes I am just blogging about it now.  Deal with it.

What up!

Ok so let’s chat shall we?

  1. I’ve quit Shoppers Drug Mart.
  2.  I made some awesome Halloween cupcakes.
  3. My friends all have babies.

1. Au Revoir ma famille de Pharmaprix! (Good-bye my Shoppers Drug Mart family!)

Sigh.

After 14+ years of service at various locations throughout southwestern Ontario, I’ve FINALLY given up my discount and polyester pants.  NO, I did not get a permanent teaching job… BUT I decided that the one or two shifts a week weren’t worth the long days and late nights, and worrying about booking off weekends, and working holidays.

What am I doing with all my extra time?  Currently, a little extra house work and a little extra baking.  Just knowing that I can come home and relax makes me feel so good though.  Yay to only having one job!! 🙂

2.  I made some super cute Halloween cupcakes, and one of my loyal followers (Hi Kristen!) requested that I blog about them!

Honestly, all they really were, were from the box chocolate cupcake mix, and creativity (and google of course!).

I just used leftover icing from other projects, moulding chocolate wafers from Micheal’s, and icing writers (the little gel tubes of icing for fine stuff).

I think if I had not left them to the very last minute they might have looked a little bit better, but for grade 4 students… they were just fine!

Scaaaaaaaaaaaarrrry!

3.  It’s about that time…

I’m surrounded by babies!  (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!)

I guess it’s that time in our lives where the baby clock starts ticking and reminding us that if you’d like to be a mommy or daddy, the time is upon us.  Go back a couple years, and there were wedding showers galore.  Now?  Baby showers.

Let me tell you this- my friends might have the cutest babies ever.  Just saying.  I have for real fallen in love with one in particular, possibly because I’ve been able to spend so much time with him and his mom!  This pic was taken by an awesome photographer (also a friend!) named Aunika Hinks…  if you do travel to her website (and I recommend that you do!), you will find a couple familiar faces; as I said a lot of my friends have young babies right now!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

May I present to you, my main man Cole!

He’s much bigger now!  And totally looks like a toddler instead of an infant.   So fricken cute!

Another recent baby to be welcomed to the world is Abigail, who is also on Aunika’s website!  Cute cute cute!

What is that on her head you ask?  Oh!  Why it’s a headband that I made for her!  I also made her a tutu….

I think I’m trying to make up for the fact that I’ve only met her a couple times by making her cool stuff. So far it’s working!

Anywho, that’s it for now.

New post to come soon.  For real.  I’ve been baking, and crafting, and well just enjoying life in general.  Lots of blog worthy stories to come! 🙂

Peace!

Fascinated by Fascinators!

YES!

I was one of the one-third of the world that got up super early to watch Prince William marry the stunning Kate Middleton!  Sigh.  Well, this post is not about to dissect all that was royal, but it’s here to mention one of my obsessions- fascinators!

I didn’t just hop on this train after the wedding, no sirree bob, I’ve been into fascinators for about a year.  I just love them!  How could you not?  They’re fun, fresh, floral (usually), and just plain awesome!  I even  wore one to my own wedding!

Wedding fascinator!

That being said, on Friday in honour of the royal affair, I brought all my fascinators to my retail job where I was working that day, and they were all worn by staff- and the staff that didn’t end up getting one were disappointed!  Everyone loved them, and the idea of it!  Customers commented on them- we were a hit!

Fascinators at work!

And now for your viewing pleasure here are all 7 of my fascinators:

jeez louise!

i decided to skip the blog for this week due to overnight shifts, and dress fittings.  that was a mistake.  apparently my group of 5 followers wouldn’t let it be, so here i am at 11pm on friday night popping out a blog post :).

this post is just going to be an update on my busy life, as i still haven’t put together pics from sandra’s wedding, AND i will definitely do a monday/tuesday meals next week!  promise!

things i feel i should blog about tonight:

1.  i am sorely disappointed in martha stewart.  seriously.

2.  how fashion forward i have become this week.

3. the western fair.

alright, let’s get this post going!

1.  martha martha martha!  last week,  you all read about my pom-pom experience and how i was praising martha stewart for being so…martha!  you all know what i mean.  martha is awesomely fantastic in all that she does.  so last week when i saw the annual hallowe’en issue of martha’s magazine come out, i first squealed in delight (of course), then purchased it immediately.  that’s where the excitement stopped.  i have bought the last 2 annual hallowe’en issues, and love them!  i’ve read them about 100 times each, and love love love the ideas in them!  LOVE!  when i opened up this year’s issue, i found that all the magazine was, was a repeat of the last 2 issues put into 1 issue!!!!!  wtf?!  and it was a $9 magazine!  come on martha!  can’t you come up with new ideas?  seriously!  the food ideas were the same, the costume ideas- same!  decor ideas…you guessed- SAME!  sigh.  i was pissed.  luckily i work at a store and was able to get my friggen money back.  i will be honest, 1% of the mag’s ideas were new, but not clearly not enough for a whole magazine, hence the repeats i’m guessing.  friggen martha.  she’ll have to earn back my trust i think.

yes. this IS what i look like in tights! 😛 haha

2.  on wednesday of this past week i wore leggings for the first time since grade six….in public!  haha.  yea yea, i know you’re probably saying duh erin, they’ve been “cool” for like 2 years.  well my friends, i have finally joined the year 2010.  and i’m glad to be here.

3.  tonight i had the opportunity to work at the shoppers booth at the western fair.  it was a nice change of pace, and let’s face it- fair food is the bomb.  who doesn’t like fair food?!  sausage on a bun, candy corn, fudge, deep fried anything!  love it!  i didn’t indulge in all those food choices…i was only there for 5 hours, and frankly, that would have been disgusting!  but i did get a chance to have a sausage on a bun, and an elephant ear! 🙂  while in line for an elephant ear i did notice that they also now sell….drum roll please!!!   deep fried…..butter!  blech!  i almost got it just to see why someone would ever think of doing that!  and you know what?  people were eating it!  they basically cover the butter in dough, deep fry it, and put chocolate, or whatever you want on it….they end up looking like chicken balls.  ugh.  if anyone out there has ever tried it, let’s hear what it tastes like!  was it worth the $6?!

butter.

that’s it for now… see ya on monday!
